What to prepare for an in-home window-treatment consultation
A short list of room priorities, a few style examples and a clear idea of what bothers you about the current setup are enough to start. Use this checklist to get useful answers before you approve a custom order.

Bring your priorities, not finished measurements
You do not need a fully specified order before arranging an in-home consultation. Start with the windows you want to change and the result you want: a bedroom that feels more private, less glare at the desk or treatments that are easier to operate. BlindMaster’s consultation includes measuring, so your preparation can focus on how the rooms are used.
Before the appointment
- List the rooms and mark which ones need attention first.
- Note when light or privacy is a problem. A quick photo at that time can explain more than a description.
- Save a few examples of colors or styles you like, including anything you definitely want to avoid.
- Identify existing treatments you want to retain and tell the consultant about planned decorating or building work.
- Make the windows and controls accessible for measuring without moving anything you cannot handle safely.
During the visit: compare more than color
Hold samples near the window and compare them with the room’s finishes. Ask how each option changes the light, what can be seen through it and what it looks like when fully open. If two choices look similar, ask what would make one more useful for the way you use that room.
Try the operating style where a demonstration is available. For a treatment you will adjust twice a day, that movement deserves as much attention as the fabric. For motorization, identify the control, power source and any required accessories. Alta’s product information shows several distinct control options; “motorized” alone does not describe the complete setup. Review example roller-shade controls.
Before approving the order
Ask for an opening-by-opening proposal. It should make clear which product, material, color, operation and mounting arrangement you are choosing. Have any choices that changed during the visit updated in the written version, so the old sample number is not still attached to the final selection.
Use these questions to finish the conversation
- Does the price include final measuring and installation?
- What happens to the existing treatments and hardware?
- Which controls, chargers or accessories are included?
- What is the current ordering and installation schedule for these selections?
- What care instructions and warranty terms apply, and who handles an adjustment?
Ask about the actual selected products and current schedule. A general website description cannot settle an order-specific detail such as an accessory, finish or lead time. Keep the approved proposal with the care information once installation is complete.
Where BlindMaster fits
BlindMaster describes a process that moves from the in-home visit through product selection, measurements and installation, including a fit and operation check. That is a useful match for homeowners who want help making the selections as well as fitting the finished treatments. See BlindMaster’s consultation and installation process.
